Our ordered part arrived and we retrieved it from the lab technician.
After attended to lab, we had a small brief about the expectations with the poster, blog, and the ethics report. Then we began finding pin connections for the grove sensor.
At first, we integrated grove speech recognizer to breadboard with Arduino. The grove speech recognizer Arduino successfully powers on after connecting USB. Secondly, we integrated LED with grove speech recognizer and Arduino. After that, we modified the code to turn on the LED with the grove speech recognizer. The LED turns on with the given functions in the documentation. We can call HICELL command to turn on the LED. We attempted to add new voice functions by training grove speech recognizer, however, we realized we cannot achieve the desired affect after all.
We decided to use the pre given functions to complete tasks as ordering a new speech recognizer is impossible as it has been week 3 and there is not enough time to integrate the part and train speech commands.
At first, we integrated display with grove speech recognizer, Arduino, and LED. Secondly, we did a simple test where LED goes on with voice command. We attempted to add more LEDs but encountered an issue. The LEDs were not turning on. To solve the problem, we reconnected everything and tested each added LED separately.After we did a simple test to turn on the integrated LEDs which works, we attempted to make the code more complex to switch between on the LEDS using one of the commands but failed.
We decided to fix current issues included screen display not disappearing after next given command and long text cutting off before the end of the day.
This day’s lab ended with a meeting where we concluded to add the final code and components next week as well as finalize progress with other aspects of the assignment i.e., the blog, poster, and ethics report.
